Sedation Dentistry
Years of neglect can be reversed in a few hours. With sedation dentistry we can complete most of your dental care at one time. Our experienced team will make sure you are relaxed and completely comfortable. We monitor you very closely while you are sedated. Many patients feel no discomfort during and after treatment, and have little or no memory of the visit.
Oral sedation is as simple as taking a pill. You can give yourself or a family member the gift of good dental health. Our team is caring and supportive and experienced in treating sedation patients.
We can often do extensive treatment in one or two appointments, including:
- Whitening yellow or stained teeth
- Replacing crowns or dentures
- Fixing chipped or damaged teeth
- Restoring sore gums to good health
- Placing implants to replace missing teeth
Common Questions about Sedation Dentistry
Q. What is sedation dentistry?
A. Sedation dentistry is a safe, effective way to have your dental treatment done. It virtually puts you to sleep and leaves you with little or no memory of the visit. You will be given a small pill to take when you arrive in our office. (There are no needles or intravenous tubes) This pill will keep you sedated for 5-6 hours allowing us to complete your treatment.
Q. Will I be totally relaxed?
A. You will receive just enough sedation so that you will be completely unaware of the treatment, as you would if you were asleep.
Q. Will I remember anything?
A. At the end of the visit, you will have little or no memory of the dental visit.
Q. Will I feel any pain?
A. Most patients feel no discomfort whatsoever during their treatment and feel surprisingly good afterwards.
Q. Will I be groggy after my treatment is over?
A. You will feel just fine. For your safety, we do require that you have a family member or friend drive you home.
Q. Is sedation dentistry safe for me?
A. Before starting any treatments, we review your medical history, and we monitor you very closely while you are under sedation.
Q. Will my insurance cover treatment?
A. We will review your insurance coverage and, if necessary, make financial arrangements to insure you get the dental care you need.
Q. Who should consider sedation dentistry?
A. Sedation can be used for:
- People with complex dental problems.
- People with a previous bad dental experience.
- People with an extreme fear of dentistry.
- People who have a limited amount of time to get their dental care.
- People who are embarrassed about their teeth for any reason.
